It’s that time of year again where you and your kids will be overeating on refined sugar and wondering what your dentist bill will be in a few years BUT there are other options that are still entertaining and tasty!
You don’t need to overload your kids with unhealthy treats this halloween. Here’s 3 of the best:
- Scary face
You’ll need: 4 apples, Sticks, 1 cup dark-chocolate, 4 strawberries, Parchment paper.
Directions: Remove the apple stems and insert the sticks into the top of the apples. Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler (or just insert metal bowl into a pot of boiling water). When the chocolate has melted, slowly rotate each apple until all sides are covered in chocolate. Chop the strawberries up into quarters and place on the apple to make a face. Place on a tray lined with parchment or wax paper and set in the fridge to cool.
- Guacamole scary eyes.
1 ripe avocado
1 teaspoon lime juice
1⁄4 teaspoon garlic salt
8 cherry tomatoes
8 pitted black olives, halved horizontally
Combine avocado, lime juice, and garlic salt.
Cut cherry tomatoes in half and discard seeds.
Fill with avocado mixture and place olive on top to look like a pupil.
- Tiny Pumpkins.
Peeled oranges, whole Celery stalks.
Wash and trim celery stalks. Cut celery into shorter stalks that pop out the orange by about 3 inches. Push a celery stem down onto the top of each orange. And there you go, cool pumpkin treats that will make your dentist love you.
Being creative with healthy food may even help others do the same next time!
