It is said that many women prefer chocolate to sex, it is good for you and that it enhances mood.
How much of that statement above is true?
Sex:
Given a choice between great sex every week for five years and free chocolate every week for five years, research showed women picked sex by a 73% to 27% margin. (you can breathe again guys).
Healthy:
Well for starters, not all chocolate is equal. At all.
The healthy and nutritious ingredient of a chocolate bar is predominantly the Cacao. Not the processed sugar, additives and other chemicals heavily added to the commercial bars.
I’ll give you an example…
Popular commercial milk chocolate bar ingredients:
Sugar, Milk Solids (25%*) , Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Solids, Emulsifiers (442, 476). Contains Added Flavour (Natural, Nature identical & Artificial (Ethyl Vanillin) Flavouring Substances.
Popular healthy dark chocolate bar ingredients:
Raw cacao*, cocoa butter*, coconut sugar*, Lactobacillus acidophilus. *certified organic. Cocoa solids 72% minimum.
Baring in mind that the first ingredient represents the largest component of the bar, we can say that not all chocolate bars are created equal. And therefore making the right choice is really about reading labels.
Mood:
Some research has suggested that Chocolate (Cocoa) helps mood through cognitive enhancement.
Look a little deeper than the international headlines and we get a clearer picture.
